The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has alerted asthmatic patients and persons with respiratory diseases to be weary of the hazy weather and take proper precausions.
The agency had earlier predicted haziness and cloudiness throughout the country from Monday to Wednesday. It advised persons with respiratory problems, among others, to be aware of the weather and wear face masks.
NiMet's weather forecast, announced on Sunday in Abuja, predicts moderate dust haze with a horizontal visibility range of 2km to 5km across the northern and north-central states.

"Patches of clouds were forecast to appear, in a hazy atmospher except in Kwara, Benue, and Kogi."

The agency predicted a little dust haze in the northern region on Wednesday.
It predicted cloud patches in a hazy environment over the north-central region. With the exception of Plateau, Kwara, Benue, and Kogi states, which will see isolated thunderstorms later in the day.
NiMet predicted patches of clouds over the inland of the South and the coast in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms.
“(This will be) over parts of Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo, Edo, Oyo, Ondo, Lagos, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Delta states later in the day,” it added.
The agency advised people with respiratory issues to wear face masks where possible.
