His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, and Nile Cinemas have inked a historic management contract for the management of Ojaja Cinemas.
Over five years, Ojaja Cinemas plans to open 1,000 screens around Nigeria, beginning in Ile-Ife and Akure. Royal Roots Ikota and THC Cinemax Ogba will also be joining the Nile Cinema Chain.
Following a formal signing on October 29, 2024, which was seen by Ooni and his spouse, Olori Ronke Ademiluyi Ogunwusi, Nile Cinemas formally took over operations for Ojaja Cinemas.
During the event, the Ooni of Ife emphasized the significance of the project in generating jobs for young Nigerians by developing his 1,000-acre Ojaja Film and Talent City. "I am not an expert, but I am using my position as a monarch to create jobs for the young and expanding population of Nigeria," he said. I chose to create the Ojaja Film and Talent City on 1,000 acres because we cannot rely just on the government.
On October 17, 2024, former Lagos State Governor and Works Minister Babatunde Fashola, along with Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, officially opened the Ojaja Film and Talent City in Ile-Ife.
The Ooni expressed confidence in Nile’s leadership: “Thanks to Moses Babatope, formerly of FilmOne, who helped revolutionize the film industry. They brought a fresh perspective, and I am confident in his expertise,” he said.
