Popular critic and media personality, Daniel Regha has weighed in on the recent victory of the Super Eagles over their counterpart, Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
The citizens of Nigeria had caused an uproar on social media celebrating the advancement of the Super Eagles to the final of the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The semi-final match at Bouake, Côte d'Ivoire, finished in a 1:1 draw after more than 120 minutes of furious football at the Stade de la Paix. Nigeria, on the other hand, was successful in collecting penalties.
However, Daniel who felt that the national team was undeserving of the win gave his opinion about the match, stating that it was a victory by chance.
He also criticized their performance, and labeled it as 'Greatly Disappointing'. He also asserted that South Africans played a better game than Nigerians as they exercised their prowess in the match.
The controversial media personality did not fail to laud the Super Eagles goalkeeper Nwabali, whose two saves helped Nigeria defeat South Africa 4-2 in penalties,
Taking to his handle on Twitter after the match, he wrote; "Nigeria won but by mainly luck, Super Eagles performance was greatly d! sappointing. Nigeria's midfield was so flat up until the 62nd minute & even after that, the team was almost outplayed. The determination wasn't really there, SA played the better game truth be told, but kudos to the goalkeeper Nwabali, he alone did an excellent job"
However his opinion was met with a lot of backlash on the media app, some netizens urged Daniel to celebrate the nation's wins and be less critical while others dragged him to filth for always finding time to criticize other people's hard work.
