The Nigeria Police Force has located and called in a group of officers seen in a viral video that showed them extorting money from motorists.
The footage, which was widely shared on Monday, depicted a police officer demanding either ₦5,000 or five litres of fuel from drivers who could not show proof of their Electronic Central Motor Registry.
In response to the situation, the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, denounced the conduct in a statement released on X (formerly Twitter).
He stated, “This behavior is completely unacceptable. The officers have been identified and summoned to Force Headquarters for appropriate measures.
We will not permit acts of indiscipline or unprofessionalism. We will keep the public updated on our actions as soon as possible. Thank you.”
