The Nigerian Golden Eaglets have been eliminated from the U-17 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) that is currently taking place in Morocco.
On Thursday, May 11, in the quarterfinal game played at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers, Algeria, Burkina Faso defeated the Nigerians 2-1.
After sloppy play from the Eaglets and squandered opportunities, Burkina Faso scored when forward Camara tapped home from close range.
Later, 12 minutes into the second half, Camara scored twice from the spot after being fouled.
Abubakar Abdullahi of Nigeria gave the Golden Eaglets little hope in the 67th minute as he cut their deficit after receiving a cross from replacement Daniel.
With Burkina Faso rounding out the quartet of teams representing Africa in the tournament, the Golden Eaglets won't participate in the under-17 World Cup that will take place later this year as a result of the 2 – 1 defeat. The other teams are Senegal, Mali, and Morocco.
