The Kwara State Command of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made significant strides in its ongoing campaign against illicit drug activities, arresting four individuals suspected of dealing in illegal substances, believed to be cannabis. The apprehensions took place at a hotel in Ilorin, the state capital, highlighting the agency's continued efforts to curb drug-related offenses.
Ibrahim Mohammed, the state commander of NDLEA, provided details on the arrests during a briefing with journalists. Notably, among the suspects is a 21-year-old woman named Ishola Bisola, identified by the agency as an agent involved in the peddling of illicit drugs.
Preliminary investigations, as disclosed by the NDLEA boss, revealed that one of the detainees, Yusuf Yahaya, was transporting 31 kilograms of Cannabis sativa from Kwara State to Kebbi and Zamfara states. More significantly, it was disclosed that Yahaya is allegedly a supplier of hard drugs to criminal elements, specifically bandits operating within the region.
The arrests underscore the NDLEA's commitment to tackling the multifaceted challenges posed by illegal drug activities, with a particular focus on disrupting the supply chain. Commander Ibrahim Mohammed emphasized the agency's determination to intensify efforts in the upcoming year, further solidifying its stance against drug-related offenses.
Upon the completion of the investigation, the NDLEA intends to bring all suspects to court, reinforcing its dedication to ensuring that those involved in illegal drug trade face the appropriate legal consequences.
