The National Hospital Abuja (NHA) has denied referring a veteran Nollywood actor, Zack Orji, to a private hospital.
This is stated in a statement that the Chief Medical Director, through NHA spokesperson Tayo Haastrup, signed.
Recall that the seasoned Nollywood actor was hospitalized after becoming ill.
According to a hospital spokesman, the actor was stabilized and transferred to the ENT ward after being taken in on New Year's Eve and admitted to the intensive care unit.
Later on, according to Haastrup, he was moved to the orthopedic ward, where doctors started getting him ready for surgery.
He said, “The attention of the National Hospital Abuja has been drawn to a publication insinuating that the Apex hospital referred the Nigerian actor Zack Orji to a private hospital in Abuja.
“To set the record straight, the actor, who was brought in on New Year’s Eve and admitted to the intensive care unit, was stabilized by National Hospital Abuja and moved to the ENT ward. Later in the day, he was transferred to the orthopedic ward, where our surgeons began preparing him for surgery.”
According to him, “Leaving Against Medical Advice” form which Orji’s relatives signed on January 1, 2024, thwarted all preparations for his surgery.
He said the management of the hospital wished the veteran actor a speedy recovery.
