The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has launched an online app and database to validate all of the pharmaceuticals it has registered.
The online app, known as "Greenbook," is now available through several channels, including the web.
Prof. Moji Adeyeye, Director General of NAFDAC, announced this during the launch on Wednesday at the NAFDAC office in Isolo, Lagos State.
Adeyeye said, “It is a repository of NAFDAC-registered drugs. This momentous occasion symbolises a significant milestone in our commitment to delivering quality, efficacious, and easily verifiable products to the market.”
“One of the things that we should be known for is transparency. Transparency is extremely important. It reflects our shared commitment to building a robust framework for pharmaceutical oversight and ensuring that Nigerians have access to safe and effective medicines.
“May it serve as a beacon of progress, guiding us towards a future where health care is characterised by transparency, accountability, and, most importantly, the well-being of our citizens.”
Also speaking, the Deputy Director, E-Registration and Data Management, NAFDAC, Dr. Dunoi Afam, stated that the platform’s objective is to provide information on a specific drug to the broader public.
He said, “We’re launching this Green Book app now to be able to help our patients, our medical practitioners, and health providers check the status of any medicine that is brought to them, maybe purchased or intended to be purchased. And so you can confirm the registration status of that product.
