Muslims in Imo State said they will be celebrating in a low-key manner as Muslims throughout the world mark Eid-el-Fitr.
They attributed the development to the state's failing economy and isolated areas of insecurity. For this year's Eid-el-Fitr celebration, the Federal Government had declared Monday, April 24, and Friday, April 21, as public holidays.
This was made known earlier to the public by the Federal Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria. However, a variety of Muslims claimed that despite the difficulties, they found comfort in simply being alive.
Imo has been dealing with insecurity brought on by the actions of unknown gunmen, which has made life hard in many sections of the state.
