Music executive and businessman Mr Eazi has refuted claims that award-winning Nigerian musician Tekno fell while performing in South Africa.
The troubling speculation began after a viral TikTok video surfaced, depicting an unconscious person surrounded by people attempting to help.
The video, which appeared to have been shot during a concert, was captioned, 'Tekno collapsed in South Africa during his tour.'
As a result, various media sources and social media users reported that Tekno was experiencing a health crisis.
Mr Eazi responded to the article by taking to X (previously known as Twitter) to laugh off the allegations.
He wrote, "Lmao Tekno wey dey Malabo," implying in pidgin English that Tekno is in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, rather than in South Africa.
An X user also commented on the post, confirming the false story. The user wrote,
"You dey mind them! People go just dey spread fake news like bedspread. For the record guys, that's not Tekno.
"The person in that video is Prezzo from Kenya, he's a rapper, and was among the contestants that participated in Big Brother Africa some years back."
