LAGOS, Nigeria - A heartbroken mother, Adesola Iyomaterie, has reached out for help from the public in finding her son, Ovie Kehinde Iyomaterie, who has been missing in Lagos State since May 13, 2025. Ovie was last seen on Orchid Road, Lekki.
In a moving video message, Iyomaterie expressed her anguish, saying her son has never gone a single day without contacting her.
She disclosed that she has filed a report with the police, carried out her own searches, checked in prisons, and visited hospitals in her desperate efforts to find him.
"I don’t know what is happening to him. I am begging Nigerians and the Nigeria Police to assist me in the search for my son. He is my only child, and I have been looking for him for 25 days. I don’t know if he’s alive or dead, please help me," she implored tearfully.
In response to her public plea, the Lagos State Police Command released a statement reassuring Mrs. Iyomaterie, the public, and all residents of Lagos that they are taking all necessary measures to find Ovie and reunite him safely with his family.
The command confirmed that they have mobilized all relevant investigative teams, including special tactical units and all police divisions and area commands throughout Lagos State.
Additionally, police departments in neighboring states have also been engaged in the search to ensure Ovie is returned safely.
Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Olohundare Jimoh, previously instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, to oversee the case and carry out a thorough investigation to find the missing young man.
