The family of the late musician, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, has rejected the Lagos State government's autopsy results and demanded that an independent toxicology test be performed on his body to determine the exact cause of his death.
At a news conference in Lagos on Monday, June 17, the family, through their lawyer, Wahab Shittu, stated that the issues surrounding the autopsy report presented before the Coroner's Court sitting in Ikorodu by a forensic scientist and pathologist from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Prof Sunday Soyemi, revealed traces of discrepancies in the findings carried out by the Nigeria Police and the state's medical experts.
Recall that on May 16, Prof. Osiyemi, a pathologist at LASUTH, had advised the Coroner's Inquest that the autopsy performed on Mohbad was inconclusive in determining the cause of his death.
The pathologist attributed the inconclusive autopsy to a variety of variables, including bodily decomposition and probable responses to drugs Mohbad received before to his death.
The family claimed that those concerns cast doubt on the report's legitimacy, noting that an independent toxicology would provide a better understanding of the reason for their son's death.
The Aloba family, therefore, sought full disclosures of all toxicology-related results and reports, saying that transparency is critical for knowing the cause of death to remove any doubts or suspicions.
Mohbad died at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023 under disputed circumstances, prompting the authorities to exhume his bones and conduct an autopsy on September 21 to determine the cause of his death.
