The family of late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has conducted a second autopsy to determine the cause of his death.
Ms T.A. Shotobi, Magistrate of the Coroner Court, ordered the autopsy as part of the ongoing investigations into the artiste's death.
Monisola Odumosu, a member of the legal team, signed a statement on behalf of the family saying that the autopsy took place on Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20.
Odumosu added that the family would proceed with toxicological and histology testing on the relevant samples already obtained if the post-mortem procedure failed to reveal the cause of death.
This latest development follows a court ruling dated June 26, 2024 that allows Mohbad's father, Joseph Aloba, to commission an independent autopsy by a professional and certified pathologist.
The court ordered Mr. Aloba to bear all costs involved with the examination, evaluation, and autopsy.
A small group of people, including Mr. Joseph Aloba, the assigned forensic pathologist and his team, as well as Aloba's lawyers, observed the full procedure last Friday.
Wunmi Aloba, the deceased's wife, was represented by her legal team and an appointed pathologist who witnessed the surgery.
The Coroner Court has reiterated its commitment to conducting a comprehensive and transparent inquiry to discover the reason of Mohbad's death, to provide closure to the family while maintaining the integrity of the legal process and if necessary, more updates will be provided after the second part of the autopsy is completed.
Mohbad died on September 12, 2024, under disputed circumstances. The pathologist previously hired to investigate the cause of death of the late singer on May 15 informed the Coroner Inquest that the cause could not be determined because the body had decomposed before the test was conducted.
