Mmesoma Ejikeme begs for mercy when she appeared before a House of Representatives ad hoc committee.
Mmesoma who admitted to forging her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result, appeared before the Abuja-sitting panel on Wednesday.
The Anambra hailed teenager, who had manipulated her score from 249 to 362, thus parading herself as the 2023 UTME top scorer tendered an apology to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for her misdeed.
Ejikeme said she ignorantly obtained her JAMB result from another portal which was not JAMB's official portal. She apologized for the pain she had caused and pleaded for leniency, urging JAMB to lift the imposed three-year ban.
JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, who also appeared before the committee, insisted that Ejikeme deliberately conspired with other actors to forge her result.
He added that JAMB had shut down over eight UTME centres that had been found wanting for infractions relating to results manipulation.
The committee has adjourned its sitting to a later date to give Ejikeme and JAMB time to present additional evidence.
