NASARAWA- The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has delivered bags of rice, boxes of pasta, and other food supplies to 300 needy women in Nasarawa State to help them sustain their families and overcome their difficulties.
Speaking in Keffi Local Government Area during the distribution exercise in Akwanga, Kokona, and Keffi LGAs of the state on Monday, the minister said that the initiative was part of President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda on food security.
She explained that the palliatives, which included rice, pasta, seasoning, cooking oil, and tomato paste, were intended as an end-of-year package to help the ladies and their families.
Sulaiman-Ibrahim, who was represented by Aishatu Rufai-Ibrahim, the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, added that the federal government, led by President Tinubu, was conscious of the difficulties that the people faced and promised to regularly intervene to lessen their burdens.
The minister, who is a native of the state, thanked Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule for his unwavering support since her appointment and reaffirmed her dedication to defending the rights of all state citizens nationally.
She said, “This programme is aimed at supporting vulnerable women in society to cushion the effects of economic challenges. We are here to ensure that no one is left behind during this season as the year draws to a close.
“We are distributing food items because that is what most vulnerable women need during this period. We will continue to do everything within our power to empower women in the country and make them self-reliant.”
