The workers in Ekiti State on Monday complied with the directive from the National body as they embarked on the planned nationwide strike.
Government offices and private businesses were shut down though some private people went along with their normal business, some banks opened in the morning but later closed offices when labour unions besieged the premises in compliance with the nationwide strike declared by the national body of the union.
The organized labour led by the NLC Chairman, Comrade Olatunde Kolapo and the TUC secretary, Comrade Yomi Peters visited the State Secretariat and some banks where they forced out staff who failed to comply with the strike action.
The duo while addressing journalists, said “No going back on the strike except the government do the needful.”
They noted that “the strike was inevitable considering the way the government was handling the negotiation process.”
The strike action was also enforced at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti where workers were forced out of the complex to abide by the strike .
