Windows 11 users rejoice! A much-requested feature is making a comeback. Microsoft, in a recent beta update, is reintroducing the ability to drag and drop files directly into the File Explorer address bar.

This functionality, which allows for quick and easy file movement and copying, was removed in a previous update, causing frustration among many users.

The ability to drag and drop files onto the File Explorer address bar was a convenient way to move or copy files to specific folders.

Users could simply navigate to the desired destination folder in the address bar by clicking on directory names, then drag and drop the file for a seamless transfer.

This method saved time compared to traditional methods of navigating folders through menus or using keyboard shortcuts.

The removal of the drag-and-drop feature in a past update was met with disappointment from a portion of the Windows 11 user base.

Many users voiced their concerns through online forums and feedback channels, highlighting the importance of this functionality in their workflow.

Microsoft, in response to user feedback, has included the drag-and-drop functionality in the latest beta update for Windows 11 (version 22635.3420).

While not yet available to all users, this inclusion signifies Microsoft's commitment to user experience and its willingness to adapt based on user needs.

The reintroduced drag-and-drop feature functions similarly to how it did before. Users can simply drag a file and drop it onto the desired folder path displayed in the address bar.

This will either move the file (if dropped onto a different folder) or create a copy (if dropped onto the same folder).

While the feature is currently in beta testing, it is expected to be rolled out to a wider audience in a future update for Windows 11, likely sometime in 2024.

This return is a positive step towards a more user-friendly File Explorer experience for Windows 11 users who rely on the address bar drag-and-drop for efficient file management.

The return of drag-and-drop to the File Explorer address bar demonstrates Microsoft's responsiveness to user feedback.

This approach bodes well for the future of Windows 11, as it suggests Microsoft is committed to creating an operating system that caters to the needs of its user base.
