The National May Day celebration in Abuja, according to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), would take place on the streets to help the Congress strengthen its ties to the general public.
This was stated in a statement that Mr. Emmanuel Ugboaja, General Secretary of the Congress, signed on Saturday in Abuja.
You must be aware of the strange last-minute decision made by the central government to refuse us usage of Eagle Square three days prior to this year's May Day celebrations despite having granted us the permit months earlier.
"Do keep in mind that we have been holding our May Day celebrations here for many years.
"The sudden decision to revoke the permission can be full of trouble and might be an indicator of things to come in the near future. It is an appeal for us all to be ready.
"Due to this terrible occurrence, we want to let you know that we've changed the celebration's location to the streets of Abuja.
"This is so that we may better re-establish contact with those who are truly our allies in the fight for a free society, he stated.
According to Ajeato, the starting point will be at the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) National Headquarters at 8:00 am.
He further stated that on May 1st, all affiliates are to gather at the Labour House, from where they will march around Abuja.
