In order to prevent a breakdown of law and order, the management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) in Abeokuta, Ogun State has decided to close the school indefinitely due to student protests regarding result verification policies.
This closure is a direct reaction to the protests triggered by the management’s new initiative aimed at verifying National Diploma results from students’ previous institutions.
Reports indicate that students of the polytechnic who received their National Diploma certificates from other institutions faced challenges in verifying their results, which raised concerns among them and led to the protests.
In a statement, the institution’s management reiterated its strong opposition to any form of academic dishonesty. “We have zero tolerance for fake results from any source,” emphasized Yemi Ajibola, Head of Public Relations and Protocol at MAPOLY, as stated on the institution’s website.
For safety reasons, all students have been instructed to stay away from the campus. “Students are advised to avoid the campus for their own safety,” Ajibola added, assuring the community that updates will be provided as the situation evolves.
Parents and the public have been assured that the institution will promptly communicate any new developments. This closure highlights the ongoing tension between upholding academic integrity and ensuring student satisfaction within Nigeria’s educational system.
