The fifth and final offer for Manchester United has been made by Qatari billionaire Sheikh Jassim, who has pledged to withdraw from negotiations if no progress is made by Friday.
It is a total takeover of United, as with his prior offers, which were also made through the Nine Two Foundation. In contrast, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the second leading bidder and businessman for Ineos, has been attempting to acquire the Glazer family's 69 percent shares gradually.
Since the American owners put the club up for sale in November, The Raine Group, which has been managing the process on behalf of the Glazers, has invited three rounds of bids.
After submitting a fourth offer, Sheikh Jassim came back this week with a fifth.
Since the process has dragged on, the Qatari's willingness to give up on his interest is a sign of his dissatisfaction with the Glazers; Ratcliffe had also intended to reach an agreement by this point.
Sheikh Jassim has promised he will wipe out the club's debts and give further funding, and the Mancunian's camp has been in direct contact with United and Raine. His offers are believed to have valued the club at a higher figure.
The Glazers have also looked into the prospect of a minority interest, with participation from many hedge funds and investment companies, including Elliott, Ares, and Sixth Street.
