A third and final round of bidding has begun for the sale of Manchester United.
According to rumours, prospective bidders for Manchester United have been asked to submit a third offer by the end of April.Last month, the Premier League team received second bids from British businessman Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jaber Al Thani.
The Glazers are believed to have received a number of bids in recent weeks, but Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe remain the front-runners to acquire United should they decide to give up ownership of the team they paid £790 million ($980 million) for in 2005.
Additionally, there is a due diligence completion date in mid-April, following which those final bids are anticipated.
There won't be a fourth round, according to sources, and this will be the last opportunity to make the Glazers an offer they'll accept. The Glazers are still reviewing investment offers, and bids for a half ownership position in the team will also be taken into consideration.
The Raine Group, which has not publicly commented on the selling process, had thought about giving a single bidder a period of exclusivity, but they opted against it and will now enable another round of bidding.
The biggest unanswered question is still whether the Glazers will sell the team outright; according to some United-affiliated sources, they may perhaps accept an investment offer rather than a full sale.
