A 43-year-old man simply identified as Obiefule Nwagha is now in police custody for allegedly conveying 1,040 tons of Indian hemp at the Alaba International Market, Ojo, in Lagos State.
According to a police source who pleaded anonymity, said “On April 17, 2024, at about 0430 hours, while on an early morning patrol around Ajangbadi, detectives of Tactical Squad, Ijaniki trailed one white Mercedes Benz mini truck to Ilufe Waterside Jetty, Alaba International Ojo, where it was discovered that a large quantity of substance suspected to be Indian hemp in sacks was being offloaded from a flying boat at the waterside jetty, Alaba International. One Obiefule Nwagha, aged 43, was arrested at the waterside jetty.
Rocketparrot News gathered about thirteen bags with a total of 1,040 wraps of substance suspected to be Indian hemp were found, adding that the driver of the white Mercedes Benz mini-truck claimed that he was sent by one Ifeanyi to transport the substances from Alaba International Market Ojo to Waterside Jetty Alaba.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hudeyin, confirmed the incident, adding that investigation was ongoing and efforts were being made to arrest Ifeanyi.
He said. “The investigation is ongoing, and effort is on to track and arrest the said Ifeanyi.”
