A 28-year-old man, Stanley Amos, has been detained by the Badagey Magistrates' Court, sitting in Lagos over alleged defilement of a 13-year-old girl.
Although Amos pleaded not guilty to the defilement charge, the Chief Magistrate, Patrick Adekomaiya, directed that Amos be held in the Awarjigoh Correctional Centre in Badagry.
The magistrate also ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
Earlier, Ayodele Adeosun, the police prosecutor, said that the defendant committed the offence on September 22, 2024.
Adeosun said the incident occurred at about 3.00 pm at the Caroline Area of Aradagun, Badagry, Lagos State.
According to the prosecutor, the offence committed contravenes Sections 137 and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Consequently, Magistrate Adekomaiya, adjourned the case until November 25, 2024, for a ruling on Amos’ bail application and DPP’s legal advice.
