Man Commits Suicide After His Wife Donated Their Money To Church

A 45-year-old man named Rex Kondwani has taken his own life in Thyolo District, Malawi, following a dispute with his wife over a church donation. The incident has shone a light on the growing issue of suicide in the country. The tragic event unfolded at Muwalo village, Traditional Authority Changata, within the district, according to a statement by senior superintendent George Kaleso, the officer in charge of Masambanjati police. Kaleso revealed that the couple had been engaged in gardening piecework and earned a sum of K12,000. The money, however, remained in the custody of the wife. When Mr. Kondwani requested his share of the earnings, his wife informed him that she had donated the entire amount to their local church. This revelation triggered a heated argument between the couple, resulting in Mr. Kondwani's fateful decision. He was discovered lifeless, hanging from the roof of the very church where the donated money was intended to support religious activities.
