Former Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro believes Atlanta forward Ademola Lookman is more technically skilled than his Super Eagles teammate and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen.
Peseiro, who led Nigeria to a runner-up finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, worked with both players in the national team and shared his thoughts on the recent transfer rumors involving them.
Lookman and Osimhen have been linked with potential moves to Arsenal, and Peseiro explained why the club should sign either player.
He stated that Lookman is more technically gifted than Osimhen, more inclined to orchestrate the game, and has also been scoring goals this season.
"He was raised alongside (Atalanta manager) Gian Piero Gasperini; now he is a regular starter, and we are pleased with him. At a high level, he too can strive to achieve great things."
"It's no coincidence that they've both grown this year. This is because they're both within a good system of play. Atalanta and Napoli want the ball; they want to play and attack. In these conditions, players get excited like this. Italian football has changed a lot in the last few years."
According to reports, Arsenal are considering a substantial offer of £42.5m plus defender Jakub Kiwior to persuade Atalanta to part ways with Lookman. This player-plus-cash deal comes despite Lookman being close to a transfer to PSG, which led to him being dropped from Atalanta's first two matches of the season.
Sky Sports Deutschland reports that the former Everton, RB Leipzig, and Leicester player has agreed personal terms with PSG, but Arsenal may still swoop in and bring him back to his hometown if they make a better offer.
There is also a suggestion that Lookman could arrive on a loan deal with an option to buy.
For Osimhen, Arsenal were said to be back in the race to sign the Nigerian striker, but it remains to be seen if the Serie A winner will join the Gunners or their London rivals Chelsea, who are said to be in talks with Napoli to finalise the deal.
