Leicester City Women announced today the dismissal of first-team manager Willie Kirk, following a breach of the club's code of conduct.
Kirk's last game in charge was a 4-0 defeat to Chelsea on March 3rd. Soon after, the club announced he would be unavailable due to an internal investigation, missing the FA Cup quarter-final on March 9th.
Assistant manager Jennifer Foster and first-team coach Stephen Kirby stepped in for Kirk's absence and led the team to a 2-0 victory in the FA Cup. They have remained in charge since.
While specifics haven't been released, media reports suggest the reason for Kirk's dismissal is an alleged relationship with a player.
In a statement, Leicester City confirmed an internal disciplinary process concluded that Kirk's actions violated the team's code of conduct to a severe degree, making his position untenable.
The club will begin their search for a permanent replacement, while Foster and Kirby will continue leading the team until a new manager is appointed.
