The family of Onyeka Onwenu has confirmed that the renowned singer's remains will be buried before the end of this month (August).
The family made this known on Tuesday while receiving a delegation from the Musical Society of Nigeria, MCSN, who paid them a condolence visit at the late singer's Ikoyi, Lagos apartment.
Onwenu was a member of MCSN till her death last Tuesday after performing at the 80th birthday party of Chief Stella Okoli, the Chief Executive Officer of Emzor Pharmaceuticals.
Receiving the delegation led by Orits Wiliki, Chairman of the MCSN Board of Trustees, Onwenu's sons, Abram and Tjiani, expressed their desire to honor their late mother's wishes by committing her remains to mother earth as soon as possible.
According to Onwenu's sons, the burial arrangement will be announced in the coming days.
Others in the delegation included the flutist, Tee Mac, who promised to perform at the service of songs of the late singer, Kenny Ogungbe, King Sunny Ade, and Mayo Ayilaran, General Manager of MCSN, among others.
