Omowunmi, the widow of the late artiste and rapper Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad, has declared her willingness to perform a Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test to verify the paternity of their only son, Liam.

The deceased singer's father, Joseph Aloba, launched a lawsuit to obtain a DNA test for his grandson. This legal action is part of an ongoing family dispute that includes challenges such as rumours surrounding Wunmi's pregnancy and disagreements over Mohbad's estate.

In the application filed by Joseph's legal team, the family requested an order to serve Wunmi by posting all originating and other processes in the matter at the respondent's last known address. This step was taken after the court granted permission for the DNA test, reinforcing the legal right to pursue paternity verification under such disputed circumstances.

The family's legal team, led by Emmanuel Oroko, maintained that attempts to serve Wunmi failed. Amid these complex legal proceedings, Mohbad's father has been vocally insistent on confirming his grandson's paternity, suggesting deep familial tensions.

On July 9, 2024, the Magistrates' Court in the Ikorodu region of Lagos State authorised both parties to investigate alternate dispute resolution, resulting in closed-door negotiations that failed to produce an agreement.

In a statement acquired by PUNCH Metro on Sunday, Monisola Odumosu, a family legal team representative, revealed that Wunmi had agreed to do the DNA test. The agreement, reached outside of court, suggests a move towards resolving some of the contentious issues that have followed Mohbad's tragic death.

According to Odumosu's statement, "Emmanuel Oroko informed the court that both parties had settled outside the court and are ready to move the terms of the settlement that have already been filed and served on Wunmi Aloba's lawyers." This settlement includes conducting the DNA test in a recognized and certified government or private medical facility within Lagos State or another suitable hospital outside the state.

Mohbad's father had agreed to cover the costs of the testing procedures and other connected expenditures, a gesture that underscores the family's commitment to resolving the paternity question as outlined in the court's terms.
