LAGOS, Nigeria (NAN) - The Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), Dr. Hakeem Shittu, has called on school administrations to embrace a culture of maintenance for school furniture.
This appeal was made during the official inauguration of a new classroom building at Anglican Primary School, Ebute Afuye, Epe.
He referred to the occasion as “a pivotal moment in advancing basic education in Lagos State.”
He noted that the newly constructed classroom block is anticipated to accommodate numerous pupils, enhance educational outcomes, and align with the government’s vision for universal basic education.
Shittu advised that schools should “preserve the furniture and swiftly address minor repairs to guarantee durability.”
He was represented by Mr. Adewale Jimoh, a LASUBEB Board Member.
The completed project was officially transferred to the Lagos State Government via LASUBEB.
He stressed the necessity of investing in infrastructure to foster a conducive learning environment, stating, “Education is the foundation of societal advancement.”
He pointed out that the new classrooms will alleviate overcrowding and provide a more suitable learning environment for children in Epe.
“Enhanced concentration, comfortable classrooms, and improved ventilation will aid students in focusing, foster an interactive atmosphere, and boost information retention,” he remarked.
He further commended the initiative, highlighting that collaboration among various government levels and stakeholders will yield greater successes in education.
“This project exemplifies our shared dedication to enhancing access and quality in education. We are grateful for this impactful initiative,” Shittu concluded.
The event was attended by Mr. Wale Raji, the Member of the House of Representatives for Epe Federal Constituency, who played a key role in facilitating the project and presenting the buildings to the state.
Also present were the Chairman of Epe Local Government, Mrs. Surah Animashaun, Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun, along with other distinguished guests.
