LAGOS, NIgeria- Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Sunday, made a significant announcement regarding the expansion of the Red Line Rail Service, which aims to improve commuting efficiency for residents by increasing the number of daily trips.
Through a post on his verified X account, Governor Sanwo-Olu stated that beginning Monday, February 10, the service will now offer five morning trips and four evening trips, a substantial increase from the previous two morning trips.
The Red Line Rail, connecting Agbado to Oyingbo, will provide faster and more dependable transport options for the people of Lagos. The total journey time is reduced to just 50 minutes with waiting times cut down to two minutes at each station. This expansion is anticipated to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance mobility throughout the state.
Sanwo-Olu also noted that this achievement highlights the government's dedication to modernizing Lagos's transportation infrastructure.
He shared that the addition of three new train sets will further increase the capacity of the Red Line, solidifying its role as a vital segment of the state's integrated transport network.
“The Red Line is more than just a train service, it’s a transformative solution for commuting in Lagos,” Sanwo-Olu remarked.
“We are creating a city where connectivity fuels economic development and elevates the living standards for all residents.
“This is Lagos, and we are consistently advancing.”
This announcement is part of a larger initiative by the administration to transform public transportation, reduce travel times, and improve the quality of life for the city's inhabitants.
