As part of a wider effort to ensure adherence to traffic laws and regulations, the Traffic Monitoring and Investigation Unit (TMI) of the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has launched a crackdown, resulting in the apprehension of 22 vehicles for various traffic violations.
These violations include illegally converting laybys and walkways into motor parks, unauthorized stopping on highways, indiscriminate parking, and the inappropriate use of laybys and walkways as showrooms by car dealers, among other infractions.
The enforcement operation, conducted in the Ikeja, Ogba, Billings Way, and Berger areas of the state, aims to enhance traffic management and road safety.
Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, confirmed the seizure of the vehicles on Sunday and stated that the TMI will continue to monitor and apprehend violators daily to ensure smooth traffic flow and protect motorists.
He emphasized that the enforcement efforts will target both commercial and private vehicles that violate the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law 2018.
The Commissioner also praised the State TASKFORCE for their success in cracking down on illegal activities by transport operators.
He urged residents to comply with the law to avoid penalties and to contribute to a safer and more orderly traffic system.
