LAGOS (NAN) -The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, in conjunction with the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, has rescued a nine-year-old girl who was allegedly molested by a man identified as Baba Michael.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, made this announcement via his official X account @ Mo_ogunlende on Saturday.
He revealed that the alleged incident occurred at the suspect’s home located at 4, Azeez Ademola Street, off Anishere, Ayobo.
He mentioned, “This action was prompted by a viral video shared by Comedienne Princess, who alerted the public about this unfortunate event. The survivor is now under protective custody and is receiving essential medical treatment and psychological counseling.”
According to him, the alleged assailant has been arrested and is currently in custody, with the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency managing the legal proceedings to ensure that justice is served.
Ogunlende remarked that the prompt response from both the Ministry of Youth and Social Development and the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency highlights the Lagos State Government’s steadfast dedication to safeguarding the rights and welfare of all citizens, particularly those who are vulnerable in society.
He encouraged residents to keep reporting any concerning issues to the ministry, stating:
“See Something, Say Something, Sort It Out.” He reiterated the government's firm stance against all forms of sexual and gender-based violence.
