LAGOS, Nigeria - The Lagos State Government has apprehended 36 individuals involved in street trading and displaying goods on the median along Ojo-Alaba road.
The group, which includes 34 men and 2 women, was detained during a collaborative operation involving the Lagos Waste Management Agency (LAWMA) and KAI officials.
This information was shared in a statement on Saturday by Kunle Adeshina, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources.
Adeshina noted that the clearance operation was prompted by a recent visit to Alaba Rago Market from a prominent team led by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, who expressed concerns about market conditions and issued an ultimatum for traders on the median to vacate.
This enforcement came after the ultimatum for the roadside traders expired.
Adeshina mentioned that the arrested individuals will be brought to court soon.
