The Lagos State Government through the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources sealed a residential property at No. 59, Ajoke Okusanya Street, off Ago Palace Way, Okota, for unlawfully discharging raw sewage into a public drainage channel.
A statement issued by the Commissioner, Tokunbo Wahab, on Sunday, indicated that this enforcement action was taken by officials from the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office after observing and confirming reports that the residents were dumping untreated waste directly from their septic tank into the environment.
The Ministry condemned this behavior as a serious breach of environmental regulations, citing significant risks to public health and safety.
"On Saturday, June 14, 2025, the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, through the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO), shut down a residential property at No. 59, Ajoke Okusanya Street, off Ago Palace Way, Okota, for discharging raw sewage into the public drainage system from their septic tank.
The Ministry reiterated that this action represents environmental pollution and a danger to public health.
Furthermore, it emphasized the government's unwavering stance against illegal wastewater disposal and its dedication to protecting the health of residents statewide.
"The State Government will continue to take decisive action against those who engage in such activities in our commitment to fostering a healthy and sustainable environment in the state," the statement concluded.
