LAGOS, Nigeria - The Lagos State government has revealed an 18 percent rise in fares as part of its bus reform initiative.
The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) announced this on Thursday through its social media platforms.
LAMATA explained that the fare adjustment was essential due to increasing operational costs and to maintain the availability of bus services for Lagos commuters.
The new fare structure will come into effect on February 17, 2025.
The statement emphasized, "The fare increase is due to the rise in operational costs and the necessity to keep buses running, ensuring your mobility around Lagos. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation."
