On Friday, the Lagos State administration unveiled an 11-day schedule for the swearing-in of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for a second term.
At a pre-inauguration media conference in Ikeja, the state's commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, described the events.
He said that the events were held to honor the governor's first term of service and that of his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat.
Omotoso, who is also the head of the inauguration's media and publicity committee, announced that the events would start on May 21 with a youth carnival and a robotics competition that will take place concurrently over all of Lagos.
He further stated that individuals with disabilities will take part in the activities.
Omotoso stated: "On May 23, Prof. Adigun Agbaje, former Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, will present a public lecture titled: "The Making of a Beacon - Lagos and the Consolidation of a Democracy that Works for All."
"From May 24 to May 26, there will be opening ceremonies for the projects in Ajeromi/Ifelodun, Alimosho, Ikeja, Kosofe, Eti-Osa, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, and Surulere.
Children's Day events will also take place on May 27 at the Police College in Ikeja, and novelty matches will take place in five divisions around the state."
"The pre-inauguration rehearsal and inauguration occur on May 28 and May 29.
"The post-inauguration Jummat Thanksgiving ceremony was scheduled for June 2.
"This will take place concurrently at the Central Mosques of each of the five divisions (Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, and Epe).
"The Mobolaji Johnson Sports Arena, Onikan, and the Inauguration Dinner at the Eko Hotel are scheduled for cultural displays on June 3.
"On June 11, simultaneous post-inauguration church services will be held in all five divisions of Lagos."
