POSTED ON January 31, 2024 •   Politics      BY Segun Adewole

The Labour Party is poised to launch its campaign for the by-elections of Surulere Federal Constituency 1, Lagos State, scheduled for Saturday, with a grand ceremony set for Thursday.

Key figures from the Labour Party, including the party's presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and National Chairman, Julius Abure, will grace the occasion, as revealed in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh.

The statement highlights that Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the LP, will formally inaugurate the 30-member Campaign Council, headed by the Abia state governor, Alex Otti.

Engr Adeola Adebanjo, popularly known as Skele, the Labour Party's candidate for the by-elections, is expected to lead thousands of party members and supporters in a bid to secure the seat recently vacated by the former Speaker of the House of Representatives and the current Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

The campaign committee, to be inaugurated by Peter Obi, boasts prominent members such as Alhaji Farouk Ibrahim, LP’s National Secretary, Arch Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, former LP governorship candidate in the state, as well as members of the national assembly and other top party leaders. Veteran Olawale Okunniyi will serve as the Secretary of the campaign committee.

The Labour Party's campaign launch signifies a significant mobilization effort to rally support and secure victory in the upcoming by-elections. With notable party leaders and a dedicated campaign council in place, the LP aims to make a strong impact in Surulere Federal Constituency 1, Lagos State.
