Two hundred and two recently certified Environmental Health Scientists at Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, were officially welcomed into the Environmental Health Council of Nigeria during the 2nd oath-taking and induction ceremony held at the institution.
The Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, encouraged the newly qualified scientists to uphold the standards of professionalism by diligently working to safeguard and enhance environmental health.
He emphasized the vital role of environmental health professionals in ensuring a safe environment, especially in light of the challenges posed by climate change.
The Acting Vice Chancellor urged them to innovate solutions to address the impact of climate change, promote sustainable development, and protect vulnerable populations from environmental hazards.
He also highlighted the university's commitment to producing graduates who will be advocates, educators, and leaders for positive change.
The Registrar of the Environmental Health Council of Nigeria, Dr. Yakubu Muhammed Baba, praised the institution for its dedication to advancing environmental health through the expansion of its degree programs, including the offering of doctoral degrees in the discipline.
He emphasized the significant contributions of environmental health practitioners to global public health.
