Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo has promised to immortalise the two students of the Confluence State University, who were killed by kidnappers in May.
The names of the students were Osara, James Anajuwe and Caleb Musa.
The governor also reassured students and management of the school of improved security on the university campus.
Ododo stated these when he met 29 students of the university who were rescued after being abducted by gunmen on the night of May 9, 2024.
The governor’s Special Adviser, Ismail lsah, in a statement on Thursday, said Ododo hosted the rescued varsity students as part of the move to restore confidence and demonstrate the commitment of his administration to the safety and security of students and educational institutions in the state.
Isah said: “The governor promised to complete the perimeter fencing of the university within 16 weeks and ensure full security surveillance of the campus with the capacity for round-the-clock emergency response by security agencies.
“Governor Ododo said he would work with the management of the university to consistently review the security architecture of the school and make improvements where necessary in line with the safe school initiative of the state government.
"He said that nothing would deter his administration from making education accessible to the teeming population of young people in the state.
“The governor who promised to immortalise two slain students of the university, James Anajuwe and Caleb Musa, also inspected the university Senate building, new male and female hostel projects and the university’s demonstration farms."
The Vice Chancellor of CUSTECH, Prof. Abdulrahman Salawu, also expressed appreciation to the governor for the gesture.
