Nigerian Afrobeats star, Kizz Daniel revealed his intention to keep a promise he made to a fan who begged to attend his UK show if Nigeria qualified for the AFCON 2023 finals.
In a tense football encounter, Nigeria's Super Eagles competed against South Africa's Bafana Bafana.
The match, which lasted longer than the stipulated 90 minutes, ended with Nigeria securing a spot in the finals on penalties, with a final score of 4-2.
Before the match, a loyal fan of the renowned singer reached an agreement via the X platform, requesting that Kizz Daniel attend his next show at the Ovo Arena in the United Kingdom.
The fan asked;“Vado if the Super Eagles win today, take me to your next show, Ovo Arena”
Kizz Daniel responded: “This I promise you …. X is my witness”
In a post-match commentary, the singer swiftly took to X to deliver the news to the fan, granting his wish mere moments after the intense match.
He tweeted; “Oga where you dey , con go do your visa o UK yah .”
The match ended 1-1 after extra time, and the three-time champions will face either hosts Ivory Coast or the Democratic Republic of Congo in Sunday's final.
Both teams pressed for a victory in extra time, but neither succeeded. While Ola Aina missed Nigeria's third penalty, Mokoena, Evidence Makgopa, and Mothobi Mvala missed South Africa's first, third, and fourth penalties, advancing the Super Eagles to the final.
Stanley Nwabali's two saves helped Nigeria defeat South Africa 4-2 in penalties, advancing to the AFCON final. They will now face Ivory Coast or DR Congo in the final.
The Olympic Stadium of Ebimpé is the host venue for the 2023 AFCON final, which takes place on February 11. Kick-off is at 20:00 UK time.
