The Kano State Government has approved Sunday, September 15, 2024, as the new resumption date for all boarding public/private primary and post-primary schools in the state for the commencement of the 2024/2025 academic session.
Pupils and students in day schools across the state will resume on Monday, September 16, 2024.
Recall that the state Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Umar Doguwa, announced on Saturday, September 7, the postponement of the school resumption date.
A statement on Thursday by the Director Public Enlightenment of the Ministry of Education, Balarabe Kiru, urged parents/guardians of students to take note of the new resumption date to ensure compliance.
It also advised students to avoid bringing any illegal items to school, such as knives or razors, and to obey the school rules and regulations.
The statement reiterated the commitment of the administration under the leadership Alhaji Abba Yusuf to ensure that every child has access to a quality education.
“The government is taking positive steps toward creating a conducive learning environment that will inspire and empower our students to excel academically,” the statement said.
However, the statement urged people of the state to continue cooperating with the ministry, assuring them that the government is taking all necessary steps to ensure an effective teaching and learning environment.
While wishing students, pupils, and their teachers a successful new academic year, the statement said the ministry would conduct routine monitoring to ensure staff punctuality and efficiency.
