The Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority (KADCHMA) has begun issuing health insurance identity cards to 8,168 subscribers across the state.
The exercise and effort were conducted in collaboration with the Clinton Health Access Effort (CHAI), a global health organization dedicated to saving lives and reducing disease burdens in low- and middle-income nations.
Malam Abubakar Hassan, Director General of KADCHMA, flagged off the distribution at the Unguwan Dosa Primary Health Care (PHC) Facility in Kaduna, saying the contributory health insurance was targeted at lowering maternal and child mortality in the state.
He stated that maternal and child mortality are not intended to be linked with Kaduna state, emphasizing that the administration is committed to the health and well-being of women.
children and other residents.
He praised the state government and other partners for their assistance in making the program a success.
Earlier, Hajiya Umma Ahmed, the Kaduna State Commissioner of Health, stated that the program aims to ensure that everyone in the state receives or has access to universal health coverage.
Ahmed, who was represented by Dr. Aisha Abubakar, Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Health, explained that universal health coverage entails everyone having access to high-quality healthcare services when and where they need them at a reasonable cost that does not cause financial hardship.
“This is a global agreement that every human being is entitled to,” she emphasized.
Speaking further, Aisha said that in an attempt by the ministry to ensure everybody receives affordable and quality health care, they evaluated the best possible ways.
