Massimiliano Allegri's tenure as Juventus manager has come to an abrupt end following his explosive behaviour during and after the team's Italian Cup victory.
Juventus released a statement on Friday citing "certain behaviour during and after the Italian Cup final that the club deemed incompatible with its values" as the reason for Allegri's dismissal.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night when Allegri was sent off in the closing minutes of the match for berating match officials.
He further escalated the situation by dismissively waving away sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli during the post-match celebrations.
Allegations also surfaced claiming that Allegri had physically and verbally assaulted the chief editor of the newspaper Tuttosport before the post-match press conference.
This dismissal comes amid widespread rumours that Juventus was planning to replace Allegri with Bologna coach Thiago Motta in the summer. However, the club was forced to expedite their decision with two matches remaining in the season.
Juventus currently sits in fourth place in Serie A, having secured a spot in next season's Champions League. They face Bologna on Monday night, a team they are tied with on points.
The club has not clarified whether Allegri's dismissal was "with just cause," a distinction that could impact the payment of the remaining year of his contract, valued at approximately seven million euros before bonuses.
The Italian Football Federation's disciplinary tribunal has opened an investigation into Allegri's actions, which have already resulted in an automatic two-match ban in the Cup. Further sanctions may be imposed pending the outcome of the investigation.
