In a bid to seek justice for the late Ilerioluwa Oladimeji-Aloba, known as Mohbad, the Larry Omodia Foundation For Justice Reform (LOFF-JR) has taken their campaign to the palace of the Aafin Ogoga of Ikere Kingdom, Oba Samuel Adejimi-Adu Alagbado, who is the paramount ruler of the Ikere Kingdom in Ekiti State, Mohbad's hometown.
After receiving a warm welcome, the Foundation urged the Oba to utilize his esteemed position to engage the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on behalf of concerned citizens worldwide to pursue justice for Mohbad. They encouraged Agirilala II to assist Joseph Aloba (Mohbad’s father) in completing the DNA test as mandated by the court and the Nigerian populace.
They also requested that Joseph Aloba be compelled to bury Mohbad without further delay and to come forth and invoke Mohbad’s spirit so that the truth about his death can be revealed. Furthermore, they asked the monarch to counsel Joseph Aloba against exploiting his son's death for financial gain from the public.
Larry Omodia, CEO of LOFF-JR, emphasized the importance of maintaining cultural values and expressed confidence that both Joseph Aloba and the IGP would honor the requests of the royal office.
“We are here, on behalf of well-meaning Nigerians both at home and abroad, to humbly appeal to the Ikere monarchy. Our journey has taken us from Europe to Lagos and now to Ikere land to visit and plead with the palace.”
Prof Babatola Olufemi, the Sapetu of Ikere Land, responded to the request, saying, “This issue concerns us deeply. It is a tragedy that Mohbad is no longer with us when he had so much potential. We will take your request into consideration.”
He mentioned that, while they were aware of the circumstances surrounding Mohbad's death, the foundation’s visit had brought the matter closer to their hearts, prompting the need for intervention.
The Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti Land thanked the foundation for their advocacy efforts, not just for Mohbad but for the community at large, acknowledging this was not their first advocacy mission.
He noted they had previously discussed reaching out to Mohbad's father and would take necessary actions to address the requests made.
“It is unfortunate,” he remarked, adding that besides Sade Adu, the renowned international musician, who is recognized as a daughter of Ikere, they had hopes for another rising star from their kingdom. Nevertheless, they are overcoming the pain.
“Your humanitarian efforts, conducted with the fear of God, are commendable. May God continue to bless you and your organization.”
