ABIA, Nigeria - Infrastructure valued at billions of Naira has been reported damaged following a fire that ravaged Geometric Power, commonly referred to as Aba power, in Abia State.

The fire reportedly ignited within a temporary structure located in the Osisioma industrial layout, Aba.

It was learned that the blaze was controlled by the Geometric Power staff prior to the arrival of the Abia State Fire Service, which responded late to the emergency notification.

In a statement released on Monday to inform the press about the devastating incident, management indicated that the cause of the fire remains unknown.

The statement mentioned, “The building had been utilized by a defunct South African electricity company known as Group 5 during the development of facilities for the integrated power company and has been of minimal use for over 12 years.”

“Although the cause of the fire has not yet been established, it was effectively contained by Geometric Power staff before the Abia State Fire Service arrived promptly in response to the emergency call.”

“Geometric Power management praises its employees for their alertness and commendable efforts in controlling the blaze, as well as the Abia State Fire Service for their quick response and professionalism.”

“The management also expresses gratitude to the public for their concern and support.”
