Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday advised President Bola Tinubu’s administration to ensure a democracy devoid of friction after election.
Jonathan said any democracy built on ethnicity and religion would not endure.
He spoke during a public lecture to mark the this year's Democracy Day, tagged, '25 Years of Enduring Democracy: Prospect for the Future' at the Old Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He affirmed that for Nigeria's democracy to yield greater dividend, political actors must change their flamboyant style.
Jonathan, who emphasised the need to strengthen state institutions in order to strengthen democracy, kicked against the politics of winner-takes-it-all syndrome.
He said such a situation would kill a healthy democratic system.
