John Fury, the father of heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury, has apologized for his involvement in a physical altercation with a member of Oleksandr Usyk's team.
The incident, which occurred in Saudi Arabia on Monday, resulted in John Fury sustaining a head injury and was widely circulated on social media.
The footage, shared by iFL TV and Usyk's nutritionist, shows John Fury headbutting Stanislav Stepchuk, a member of Usyk's camp.
The confrontation took place just days before the highly anticipated heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, scheduled for May 18 in Riyadh.
The fight aims to crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 24 years, if it doesn't end in a draw. Both fighters are unbeaten, with Fury holding the WBC title and Usyk being the unified champion.
John Fury, a former boxer and bare-knuckle fighter, is known for his outspoken nature and has frequently made headlines in recent years.
Following the altercation, John Fury expressed his remorse in an interview, stating: "Sincere apologies to everybody involved, to be honest with you. It's just the way we are. Emotions and tensions are running high."
He also acknowledged that the other person involved had been disrespectful, adding, "Everybody knows, if you come close in a fighting man's space, you're gonna 'cop for something', aren't you?"
