Nigerian music star Iyanya has revealed what really inspired the title of his new album after making a comeback from the music scene in 2022.
In an interview with Naija FM, Iyanya discussed his latest album, 'Once Upon A Cat,' in which he features a number of upcoming singers.
When asked about the rationale behind the album title and his decision to collaborate with new musicians, Iyanya stated that the album title was inspired by a social media troll's comment.
Last year, social media was abuzz when Davido named Burna Boy, Rema, and Asake as part of a new crop of Afrobeats superstars.
The comment polarised admirers who tried to figure out who the new or old cat was.
During the conversation, one social media user inquired about Iyanya's classification, to which another user responded in pidgin, "that one is once upon a cat".
Iyanya explained that he and his crew had been discussing ideas for the album's name, and the troll's statement was immediately chosen as the correct album title.
Iyanya's album featured a number of emerging artists, including Moonlight Afriqa, Tee Dollar, Qing Madi, M3lon, Pawwz, and Young Duu, among others.
The singer explained that the decision to feature these artists was prompted by a desire to highlight them.
