Israel's military announced on Friday that it had conducted a targeted strike on an organization in Syria believed to be responsible for a drone incident that crashed into a school in southern Israel the day before. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) took to X, formerly known as Twitter, stating, "In response to a UAV (drone) from Syria that hit a school in Eilat, the IDF struck the organization that carried out the attack."
While the IDF did not disclose the identity of the organization, it held the Syrian regime accountable for any terrorist activity originating from its territory. The drone impact occurred at an elementary school in Eilat, resulting in no injuries but causing individuals to be treated for shock.
Contrary to Israel's account, Yemen's Iran-backed Huthi rebels claimed on Thursday that they had launched a "barrage of ballistic missiles" at southern Israel, making no reference to drones. Meanwhile, Israel reported intercepting a missile over the Red Sea.
Amidst these developments, Israel continues its offensive against Hamas in Gaza, initiated after the group's border incursion on October 7. The conflict, marked by airstrikes and ground operations, has led to a significant loss of life, with over 10,800 casualties reported, mostly civilians, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
