The Republic of Ireland has deported at least 35 Nigerians, including five children, on a charter flight that left Dublin Airport on Wednesday night.
As reported by the Irish Mirror, the group, which included 21 men, nine women, and five children, arrived in Nigeria on Thursday.
Irish Minister for Justice, Jim O’Callaghan, expressed his satisfaction that all individuals made it back to Nigeria despite an unexpected stop due to a medical emergency during the flight.
Although the Irish government did not specify the reasons behind the deportation of these Nigerian nationals, O’Callaghan stated, "Ireland has a rules-based immigration system.
It is crucial that these rules are strong and enforced." Meanwhile, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission stated that they were unaware of the deportation carried out by Ireland on Thursday.
NiDCOM spokesperson, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, shared this information with Punch Diaspora Tales on Thursday.
